The EEU has decided on the classification of electrical connectors according to the Harmonized System
At the meeting of April 21, 2020, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Union decided on the classification of electrical connectors in accordance with the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of foreign economic activities of the EEU. This decision applies to the specific type of connectors described in the next part of the article and will enter into force 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication.
What are electrical connectors?
It is worth starting with a short description of the electrical connectors. These are connecting sets consisting of two elements: a plug and a socket. The main function of this device is to connect and disconnect two or more electrical circuits by plugging the plug into the socket. Despite the relatively simple functions, the design of the electrical connectors can be very diverse.
An important decision on the classification of electrical connectors
The Management Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to classify (in accordance with the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System for foreign economic activities) to subheading 853669 of the uniform goods nomenclature for foreign economic activities of the EEU connectors, which:
- are electrical devices in the form of a plug and socket
- have threaded locking in their articulated position (which is to prevent accidental unplugging of the plug from the socket)
- are intended for connection by connecting devices in electrical circuits to a voltage not exceeding 1000 V
