The EAEU is preparing to switch to electronic forms for product conformity assessment documents
On March 18, 2021, the conclusions of the working meeting of the authorized bodies of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union were published on the website of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the main topic of which was the transition to electronic license forms for product conformity assessment.
Pandemic as a factor accelerating the digitization of documents
The representatives of authorized bodies present at the meeting pointed to the great importance of using electronic certificates and declarations of conformity. The importance of such documents is particularly evident during a pandemic. It was this difficult and unexpected situation that helped raise awareness of the need for such a transformation. Digitization is currently one of the key trends in many areas.
Digital transformation as a direction of development
Importantly, the emphasis on digital transformation has also been placed in the Strategic Directions for Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025. The meeting highlighted the advantages of switching to electronic document management in terms of conformity assessment. The main arguments mentioned above are:
- reducing the risk of fraudulent activities related to licensing documents
- reduction of time and financial costs
- increasing confidence in the reliability of the results of the conformity assessment
- reducing the scale of counterfeit products
Principles of transition to electronic forms
During the meeting, the representatives emphasized that the transition to electronic permit forms should be smooth and, most importantly, be implemented in a synchronous manner for all member countries of the association. Otherwise it may create additional difficulties and barriers.
