The draft technical regulation for poultry meat and poultry products was approved
The Board of the Eurasian Economic Union on September 21, 2021 approved the draft technical regulation of the EAEU "On the safety of poultry meat and poultry products". Now this project has been submitted to the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission for consideration.
Scope of the regulations
The subject of these technical regulations are:
-
poultry slaughter products and products derived from the processing of poultry (meat, by-products, semi-finished products, poultry fat, sausages, broths, canned goods and the like)
-
the processes of production, transport, storage, sale and disposal of the relevant poultry products
It is worth mentioning that this document will not cover specialized products (with the exception of poultry slaughter products for infant nutrition), poultry meat and processed products made at home for personal use, food products of catering enterprises, food additives, as well as poultry meat feed.
Proposals for conformity assessment
According to the provisions of the draft regulations, when placing poultry meat and its products on the market, producers are required to declare the compliance of poultry meat products. However, this does not apply to poultry meat products for infant nutrition, which are subject to veterinary and sanitary examination. The declaration also does not apply to new types of products, because they are subject to state registration in accordance with the rules of the technical regulations TR CU 021/2011 "On food safety".
The regulations will come into force in 2023
It is planned that, in accordance with the adopted schedule, the technical regulations on poultry meat and poultry meat products will enter into force on January 1, 2023. This date does not apply to some points of the regulations that will become applicable after the development of the relevant standards.
