On July 16, 2018, changes to the technical regulations for milk and dairy products entered into force in the Eurasian Economic Union.

On November 10, 2017, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission adopted Decision № 102 to amend the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of milk and dairy products" (CU TR 033/2013).

Changes concern the requirements for the labeling of milk-containing products, the rules for placing information on the label, and the use of concepts that characterize the features of the commodity composition of the product in the names of milk-containing products, including with a dairy fat substitute.

The Decision of The College of the Eurasian Economic Commission № 40 of 20 March 2018 establishes transitional provisions of the technical regulations of the CU “On the safety of milk and dairy products”. Until January 16, 2019, in the EAEC business entities can produce and sell milk-containing products with the old labeling, if they have documents on the assessment of compliance with the technical regulations issued before the date of these amendments entry into force. Moreover, trade in such products is allowed throughout the duration of its validity.
