New Program for the Development and Update of Regulatory Standards for Food Products
On June 24, 2021, by the decision of the Management Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 67, the New Program for the Development and Update of Regulatory Standards for Food Products was adopted. It contains a plan for the development of international standards of compliance with food regulations, which will be methods of testing and sampling to assess the conformity of food products.
Structure of the adopted document
The document approved the new GOST standards development and update program for the technical regulation TR CU 021/2011. Thus, the current version of the document, which was adopted by the decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission of December 24, 2014, is canceled.
The new Program covers as many as 103 items of food products. As required, the Program includes: ISS code, the name of the draft interstate standard and the type of work, elements of technical regulations, development conditions and the entity responsible for coordinating the implementation process - one of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Standards and documents covered by the new Program
The Program provides for the revision of 30 applicable international standards, the development of 58 GOST standards and the introduction of amendments to 15 standards. By 2023, the technical conditions for, among others, fresh hawthorn and rose hips, food concentrates for sweet dishes, mass catering products and fruit purees must be changed.
Timetable for the implementation of international standards
The document defines the program for the development of international standards for specific products along with the deadlines for their implementation. Some of them are listed below:
- corn and wheat flakes, 2022 - 2024
- fruit and vegetable semi-finished products, 2022 - 2023
- Eastern flour sweets, 2021 - 2022
- sampling for the analysis of liquid tea concentrate, 2021 - 2022
- methods of microbiological analysis of meat products, 2021-2022
- test methods for soft drinks, 2021-2022
- sandwiches, 2023 - 2025
The provisions of GOST standards for edible chicken eggs, jams, canned food, chocolate, wheat gluten, methods for determining sucrose in sugar, dioxin content in food and other indicators will also be changed.
