Changes to the regulations regarding the safety of wheeled vehicles

During the meeting on June 21, 2019, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided on changes to the technical regulations of the Eurasian Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles" (TR CU 018/2011)

Pursuant to the provisions of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and relevant regulations of the Eurasian Economic Commission, it was decided to amend the applicable technical regulations of the Customs Union. The changes concern the technical regulations which regulate the safety issues of wheeled vehicles (TR CU 018/2011).

What kind of records have been changed?

There are two important changes that have been made. The first applies to vehicles that have a steering wheel on the right side. On the basis of the new regulations, a ban on entering right-hand drive vehicles in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Belarus has been introduced. Important information - these ban applies to vehicles in categories other than N2 and M2. According to the law in categories N2 and M2 are included: buses, trolleybuses and specialist passenger vehicles.

Tables regarding exhaust emission standards and ecological requirements for motor vehicles and internal combustion engines have also been supplemented. Additional content was introduced in point 6 of the regulation, concerning, among others, standards for spark-ignition engines fueled with gasoline and gas, as well as diesel engines in passenger vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, specialized passenger vehicles and trucks. The introduced standards are based on the regulations of the European Economic Commission and are available in the attachment.

The decision taken by the Eurasian Economic Commission will take effect 180 days after its official publication.
