The decision on the labeling of drinking water was postponed to December 2019

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Viktor Jewtuchow informed journalists that the planned experiment on drinking water labeling in the Russian Federation had been postponed, probably until December 2019. The decision was made at a meeting of the State Commission for Combating Illegal Movement of Industrial Products.

According to the deputy minister, a specially created working group thoroughly analyzes whether there is a high risk of illegal trade and illegal production in this area. It is on this basis that a decision on the possible introduction of drinking water labeling will be made. Jewtuchow emphasized that one of the criteria determining the need for labeling will be a significant amount of illegal trade in products of this trade segment.

During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturow said that the share of counterfeit, illegally placed on the market drinking water in Russia, according to research Center for monitoring food quality, is about 27%. In turn, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut emphasized that there is still a lack of sufficient data to decide on the introduction of labeling of drinking water.
