Standards regarding electromagnetic compatibility of technical devices

On July 2, 2021, two decisions of the Management Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission regarding standards for the technical regulation CU TR 020/2011 "On electromagnetic compatibility of technical devices" were published. The documents were adopted on June 29.

Two decisions regarding electromagnetic compatibility

These are: Decision No. 76 on amendments to the "Program for the development and updating of international standards" and Decision No. 77, which approved the new "Lists of Standards for a Voluntary and Compulsory Procedure for Confirmation of Compliance with the Technical Regulations on Electromagnetic Compatibility".

Thus, the changes in the "Program for the development, change and revision of international standards used to voluntarily comply with the provisions of the technical regulations CU TR 020/2011 and to conduct conformity assessment" provide for the extension of the preparation time of a significant part of the standards, as well as supplementing this document with new items - from number 182 up to number 260.

Belarus and Russia will be responsible for developing the changes

From 2023 to 2024, under the leadership of Belarus, changes to the GOST CISPR 11-2017 standard will be introduced. It will be extended to include standards and test methods for industrial, scientific and medical equipment. By the end of this year, Russia should develop the provisions of the GOST standard, which will define the test methods and requirements for the resistance of technical devices to dips, short interruptions and voltage fluctuations.

Dates of entry into force of the new regulations

According to the planned schedule, the changes to the regulations are to come into force 30 days after their publication. After 180 days from the date of publication, the new "Lists of Standards for the Voluntary and Mandatory Procedure for Confirming Compliance with the Technical Regulations on Electromagnetic Compatibility" will come into force. They will define GOST standards for sampling, as well as test methods and principles.

The new "voluntary" list of standards will include 260 items. Some of them will only be valid until a specific date, for example, the two GOST R standards for the stability of measurement relays, valid until March 1, 2023, or the IEC STB standard for electromagnetic compatibility for medical electrical devices, which will only be applied until July 1, 2022.

In turn, the new "List of standards with test principles" contains 318 items. Some of them, as in the case of standards for voluntary application, have a limited period of validity. I am talking about standards concerning:

  • automatic switches
  • electromechanical contactors
  • methods of testing equipment for arc welding and others.
