Novelties in the labeling of improved products

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has developed a draft regulation on the procedure for labeling products with improved characteristics. It was submitted to the procedure of public discussion.

The effective date of the act

Federal Law No. 159-FZ of June 11, 2021 "On agricultural products, raw materials and food with improved characteristics" comes into force in the country on March 1, 2022. As with organic products, the manufacturer will have to go through a certification process to obtain the right to place a product mark with improved properties on their goods.

The law stipulates that in the production of such products, agro-industrial and other technologies that meet the established environmental, sanitary-epidemiological, veterinary and other requirement should be used.

Logo for improved products

Rosstandart has defined a graphical compliance mark for products with improved characteristic. This is a circle with a green outline in which there are inscribed figures in the shape of a leaf and a hand on a white background, above and below the circle there will be word elements - "green pattern" in Russian and "green one" in English.

Voluntary certification

Only those producers who pass the established procedure of voluntary certification in accredited bodies will be able to mark the products with this mark of conformity. It will be a confirmation of the fact that the goods meet all the requirements specified in the act for products with improved properties.
