Discussion on changes in the lists of food additives and specialty food products

On July 19, 2021, the procedure of public discussion on two draft decisions of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council regarding changes to the lists of food additives and specialty food products began. The discussion will last 30 days and will end on August 18, 2021.

Changes related to two technical regulations

The changes will affect the lists of products for which the customs declaration must be accompanied by a document on the assessment of compliance with one of the two technical regulations:

  • "Safety requirements for food additives, flavouring agents and processing supplements"
  • "On safety of certain types of specialized food products, including dietary treatment and dietary preventive nutrition”

Adaptation of changes to new legal regulations

Draft changes have been prepared by the EAEU Technical Regulation and Accreditation Department in order to adapt the EAEU TN VED codes indicated in the list to the new, updated edition of the Commodity Nomenclature, which will enter into force on January 1, 2022. According to the schedule, changes to the lists are to enter into force on 1 January of the following year.

Certain tea products with a new code

The code change is made for entry 10 which includes instant herbal teas, paraguayan holly tea or mate. For these products, the code starting with 2106 90 920 0 (other food without milk fat, glucose or starch) will be replaced by a code starting with 2106 90 930 0.

Code change for sweeteners

For products which must be accompanied by a conformity assessment document and / or information about it, explanations for five items have been created. For example, in item 5 "Sweeteners" it is planned to replace the code starting with 2934 99 900 0 "(other nucleic acids and their salts) with a code starting with 2934 99 800 0. In item 57 "Polyethers constituting technological aids according to the manufacturer's documents" code starting with 3907 20 (alcohol polyethers) will be replaced by a code starting with 3907 21 000 and 3907 29.
