The obligation to label shoes in Russia is postponed until July 2020
The press office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin decided to postpone the introduction of mandatory footwear labeling for 4 months. In the original assumption, this obligation was to come into force on March 1, 2020.
The obligation to label footwear will enter into force on 1 July 2020
In connection with the adopted decree, the placing on the market, circulation and withdrawal from the market of unlabelled shoes is allowed until July 1, 2020. Footwear not sold at that time should be marked before September 1. Imported shoes that were purchased before July 1 but imported at a later date should be marked accordingly before August 1.
More time for IT systems integration
The press office of the Prime Minister explains that the deadline for introducing the label has been postponed in order to enable participants in the trade in footwear products to fully prepare the integration of their accounting systems with the state IT system to monitor the circulation of goods subject to the obligation of labeling through labeling.
Labeling is the result of an agreement with the business sector and labeling system operators
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed proposals to switch to mandatory footwear labeling after talks with representatives of the business world, the operator of the Operator-CRPT labeling system and interested offices.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade urged companies not to delay the start of work in the system until the last day, not wait until the cut-off date of July 1, and were already actively preparing for the introduction of labeling in the industry Deputy Minister Viktor Evtukhov said that officials had recorded an increase in orders code designations for the footwear industry, which demonstrates the willingness to cooperate and an active attitude of business communities in implementing this project.
What will be subject to labeling besides footwear?
The list of goods subjected to mandatory labeling was approved by a government decree of April 28, 2018. It included tobacco products, perfumes and toilet water, tires, various items of clothing (coats, rain jackets, jackets, blouses), footwear products, bedding, table and kitchen linen, cameras and flashlights.
