Requirements for skin antiseptics in EAEU countries
The Management Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has approved new requirements for skin antiseptics marketed in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Requirements for skin disinfection products
The effect of the introduced changes is the establishment of uniform requirements for antiseptic products applied to the skin. As part of the changes, the list of documents was approved, according to which the toxicity and safety of disinfectants will be assessed. These activities are aimed at optimizing the process of registering this type of products in the EAEU, as well as preventing the placing on the market of products that are potentially hazardous to health.
Amendments to the applicable documents
The changes come into force pursuant to the decision of the Management Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission of August 3, 2021 No. 99 "On changes to section 20 of chapter II of the Uniform sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic requirements for products subject to sanitary-epidemiological supervision". Appropriate changes have been introduced in the Uniform Sanitary, Epidemiological and Hygienic Requirements for Products subject to Sanitary and Epidemiological supervision.
A new definition of a disinfectant
The new version of the document defines a skin disinfectant as an antimicrobial disinfectant for the treatment of an intact skin barrier, with the exception of products registered or subject to registration as drugs and / or medical devices. Appropriate records related to skin antiseptics were also included in the indicators of toxicity and safety of disinfectants.
